In the spectrum of contemporary terrorist leaders Osama bin Laden had no equal.  As a leader , who has employed violence in pursuit of his political aims and objectives , he stands out in many many ways.  For over a decade Osama bin Laden has inspired , instigated and supported Islamic terrorists Islamist  guerrillas and terrorists , bringing about a multitude of deaths and much human suffering.  In the world trade center attack alone , the victims were from 100 different nationalities.  Second he built a popular following throughout the Islamist world , being almost revered in Muslim circles in Asia, Africa and the Middle East and among first and second generation migrants in North America, Europe and Australia.   Nor has his popularity waned  despite evidence that he masterminded  the worst terrorist attack in history.  He continues to be regarded  as the supreme symbol of resistance to U.S. Imperalism .  Third , Osama’s disposition towards his enemies hsa not mellowed in the face of imminent threats on his own life and to his organization.  Even after a U.S. cruise missile attacks in 1998 and more intervention in Afghanistan in late 2001. the tone of his statements has remained constant and unbending.  If not even more strident.  To his admirers, he is unrelenting. neither he nor Al Qaeda will compromise in any manner or thought.

Wit the persistent and constant application of sustained resources, it must be only a question of time before Osama bin Laden is either killed or to prevent capture commits suicide.  Was the man the movement or has the movement gone beyond the indvidual man.  Osmama  has always been aware that because of the high risk nature of his life he will one day be captured or killed.  Would that be the end of Osama bin Laden or just his start as a martyr .  Has he built an ogranization that will outlast him ?  This will be the ultimate test of Osama bin Laden;s qualities and powers of leadership and as a leader.

Security consultant Dan Egerstad has managed to snag usernames and passwords for over 100 e-mail accounts belonging to embassy employees around the world. According to Computer Sweden, which was able to check that some of the data was accurate, the embassies affected include India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran, along with a British office in Nepal.

Egerstad said he found the data inadvertently after some security-related research. “I did some experimentation and came across the information accidentally,” Egerstad told Computer Sweden.

Of the embassies affected, only Russia has yet to own up to the problem. Roman Mironov, the head secretary at the Russian embassy in Stockholm, told a Swedish television station that the information is accurate but no longer relevant since the login information has been changed. The Indian embassy refused Computer Sweden’s requests for comment.

Computer Sweden says that it has confirmed other aspects of Egerstad’s account without trying to log into any of the compromised accounts, but it has decided against naming or linking to the web site where the data was posted.

Given that the data obtained appears to be confined to e-mail login information, the potential for damage appears to be limited. Egerstad hopes that his finding the data proves to be an eye-opening experience for the embassy staff. “I hope this leads them to take action,” Egerstad told Computer Sweden. “And I hope they become a bit more aware of security issues.”

 There were demonstrations against the U.S. intervention and in support of the Taliban, Al Quaeda and Osama in Europe and to a lesser degree in Africa , but not in the United States or in the the Middle East.  Those in Indonesia were the largest in duration because the Indonesian government refrained from responding, stating that in a democracy demonstrations were permitted and even encouraged.  Because demonstators were allowed  to carry placards saying “Long Live Osama”, even in the vicinity of the American embassy , local Islamic parties were emboldened and recruited more members every day.

Photographs of the P.A.S. ( Islamic Party of Malaysia) and F.P.I. ( Islamic Defenders Front) activists holding pro-Osama posters in Malaysia  and Indonesia respectively received widespread publicity while tens of thousand of children born to Muslim parents worldwide worldwide have been named Osama.  A taxi driver in Jakarta who called his new born son “Osama my Hero”  said ” Look at my Osama.” ” Look in his face:  “He is a good man.  He is a man of god” “He cares for poor muslims”.  Referring to the September 11 attacks he added ” We did not do this.  The Jewish Mossad did it to put America and the West against Muslims”.    In the immediate aftermath of the attacks Nigerians who believe that a personn’s name influences his behaviour , named seven of ten boys “Osama” in the largely Muslim northern city of Kano “Osama”,

Some of the responsibility for this widespread popular support for Osama  is attributable to the U.S. government , which neglected to publicize in Muslim countries Osama’s role and expose Al Queda’s complicity in many other myriads of terrorist attacks, although it did manage , very effectively to mobilize other governments to its side.  Many radical Islamic movements  exploited this critical time ans space to foster the perception that Osama had not been involved in the 9/11 attacks  and that the West was using them as a pretext to target Muslims.

      As the authoritative regimes have prevented their manufacture and distribution  , so they have become widely available in South and Southeast Asia.  The Osama t-shirts are produced mainly in Pakistan m Thailand and Indonesia are being sold all over South and Southwest Asia including countries with small  Muslim populations.  One produced in Bankok  Thialand showed Osama next to President George W. Bush beside the burning twin towers carries the slogan ” This is politics , NOT WAR” ; while another depicting Osama is captioned   “He is not terrorism, he is fighter”

The public reaction to Osama bin Laden in the muslim world after September 11 has been divided increasingly sympathetic to him.  Opinion polls taken in early 2002 revealed that most Muslims in the Middle East did not believe the 9 /11 attacks were carried out by fellow believers  and choosing to attribute them to the Mossad or the C.I.A .  As the symbol to resistance to the U.S. bin Laden has become a hero among many Muslim communities from Pakistan – to Indonesia, from Niger to Egypt.  Osmama memoralbia – cassettes , CDs and DVDs of his speeches , to posters , T-shirts, pens and sweets bearing his imprint have proliferated.

Although Osama and Azzam agreed on the principal issue of supporting Muslims who were persecuted for their religious and political beliefs, epecially those who were engaged in ethno-nationalistist campaigns such as Chechyna and Kashmir , worldwide amd on the creation of Al Qaeda they disagreed on tactics.  The tension between the two came to ahead over the proposal of MAK’s Egyptian fighters to train the mujahidin  in terrorist techniques,  The Egyptians were keen to build a force to mount a campaign back home , but Azzan insisted that MAK’s funds were to be used only in Afghanistan.  Having lived in Egypt , he knew the futility , danger and limits of launching a terrorist campaign there and hence issued a fatwa stating that Jihadi funds to train in terrorist tactics would violate Islamic law.  On killing  non combatants , Azzazi’s writing reflect the finer points of issue as well as his position and positions.

To prepare the pioneering Islamic vanguard , Al Qaeda emphasizes the physical as well as the psychological aspects of warfare training. The average Al Qaeda fighter is better trained and better prepared for his mission than any other Islamic guerrilla or terrorist. For example of the twenty 9 /11 hijackers , it is remarkable that not one of them flinched , not one had second thoughts , all went willingly to their deaths, even the very young. Because he firmly believes that Allah guides him and rewards the principle of sacrifice he is driven by a relentless fearless energy.

The fatwa ( Islamic decree) issued by Al Qaeda and its associates illuminates the motivation of Al Qaeda and its associates illuminates the motivation of Al Qaedas’s martyrs to kill and their supreme indifference to death . It should be borne in mind ,however that the force of a fatwa depends entirely upon who pronounces it , and none of the recognized Islamic authorities ( Sunni or Shia) regards Osama bin Laden as a person capable of legitimately of issuing one.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said his country is holding talks with Hamas in order find solutions for the conflict in the Middle East, Israel Radio reported on Saturday.
“It’s important to hold such talks and countries that do not do so are wrong,” he was quoted as saying.
Hamas lawmaker Halil al-Haya on Thursday claimed, however, that Russia had invited officials from the Islamic group to visit Moscow for talks.
Al-Haya told a Hamas-affiliated Palestinian magazine that the Russian government had officially invited a Hamas delegation, headed by Damascus-based Hamas political leader Khaled Meshal, to Moscow. Al-Haya would not specify the date, but said the visit would be in the coming days.

The German government says the Taliban carefully monitors German debates on Afghanistan and instantly reacts to any statements. Shouldn’t then some of the criticism aimed at the media be directed towards politicians who jump at every opportunity to express their views about the security situation in the country or troops?
Politics is, much like the media, all about making things public. Thus there is a very strong alliance between politics and politicians on one hand and media on the other because, of course, politicians need the media to express themselves. Unlike what the German government says, it must be said that in comparison to politicians, the media has been reporting on the Taliban’s activities in Afghanistan in a pretty modest manner.

A young Iranian who was searching for his lost puppy in a Tehran neighborhood has been arrested and ordered to stand trial for ‘moral corruption’.According to the Tehran daily, Etemad Melli, the young man was caught while putting up a notice in which he was promising a reward to anyone who found his dog.

“Looking for a lost dog indicates the spread of a corrupt culture, which indirectly popularises keeping a dog at home, something that is completely foreign to the culture and Isamic tradition,” said Tehran police spokesman, Mehdi Ahmadi.

“In arresting this young man, we wanted to send a very clear message to our young people, you need to steer away from the corrupt culture imported from the west.”

Mexico’s president Felipe Calderón used the occasion of his first state-of-the nation address to declare war on the United States (AKA Azatlan), proclaiming that, “Mexico does not end at its borders,” and “[w]here there is a Mexican, there is Mexico.”
El gato is out of the bag. The 400,000 illegal aliens who cross our southern border with Mexico each year – now 12 million strong – are not here to “do the jobs that Americans won’t do.” They are an invading force waging Mexico’s protracted campaign to achieve “La Reconquista.”
Calderón’s ambitions are being aided and abetted by a Fifth Column in this county that includes the ACLU, the AFL-CIO and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – which have all joined forces to thwart all efforts to protect communities nationwide from being overrun – and even President George W. Bush, who has been stealthily laying plans for a European Union-style North American Union, with Calderón and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
What? You say you’ve never heard of the North American Union (NAU)? That’s because the negotiations between the U.S., Canada and Mexico have thus far been conducted in secret – without oversight by our elected representatives in Congress. Writing in Human Events, Jerome R. Corsi (co-author, with John O’Neill, of “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry”) has been doggedly covering NAU-related developments for more than a year:
The Bush Administration is pushing to create a North American Union out of the work on-going in the Department of Commerce under the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America in the NAFTA office headed by Geri Word. A key part of the plan is to expand the NAFTA tribunals into a North American Union court system that would have supremacy over all U.S. law, even over the U.S. Supreme Court, in any matter related to the trilateral political and economic integration of the United States, Canada and Mexico. …
The executive branch under the Bush Administration is quietly putting in place a behind-the-scenes trilateral regulatory scheme, evidently without any direct congressional input, that should provide the rules by which any NAFTA or NAU court would examine when adjudicating NAU trade disputes. …
We wonder if the Bush Administration intends to present the Trilateral Regulatory Cooperative Framework now being constructed … to Congress for review in 2007, or will the administration simply continue along the path of knitting together the new NAU regional governmental structure behind closed doors by executive fiat?

According to Corsi, incremental movement towards creation of the NAU by 2010 is occurring through a series of regulatory actions by the U.S. Department of Commerce – like allowing hundreds of Mexican trucks to ply our roadways nationwide, despite the 411-3 House vote in May against entry of these trucks on safety concerns.
Unless Congress stops its partisan bickering long enough to start paying attention to what’s going on under their very noses, in three years our dinero is going to be called the Amero – and we won’t need to build a border fence, because we will no longer have borders. Then, Mexico will have achieved La Reconquista without firing a shot.

The third time was the charm for Abdullah Gul. The devout Muslim whose wife wears a headscarf won Turkey’s presidency Tuesday after twice falling short of the two-thirds majority in parliament needed to secure the position. In the third round of voting, he only needed a simple majority. Gul’s party, the Islamic-oriented Justice and Development Party (AKP) holds 341 of the 530 seats in the Turkish parliament, and he got 339 votes.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “[i]n a recent meeting with journalists, Mr. Gul said he would make use of his experience as foreign minister to … make the Turkish presidency more active on the international scene.”

Gul made good on that promise even before assuming the presidency, having worked in tandem with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to apply pressure on Israel last week to bring Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham H. Foxman to heel after he conceded last week that the near-annihilation of Armenians at the hands of Ottoman Turks “was tantamount to genocide.” While Gul was working Israel’s ambassador to Ankara over, Erdogan was whining to Israeli President Shimon Peres that Turkey “was feeling ‘disappointed with its friends.’” Peres called Foxman, who then sent a letter of apology for putting the Turkish people “in a difficult position.”

Given the Turkish military’s propensity to overthrow the country’s government, Gul might not be around all that long – if he does not exercise his veto power over legislation passed by parliament under the leadership of political ally Erdogan that is perceived to pull the country towards Islamism.

The Associated Press reports that “top generals did not attend the swearing-in ceremony … Local media interpreted their absence as a protest against the 56-year-old Gul. … The military has ousted four governments since 1960, and an initial presidential bid by Gul was derailed over fears that he planned to dilute secular traditions. Some commentators said the generals’ failure to show up for Gul’s oath-taking was ominous.”

ANYANG, South Korea, Sept. 2 (Yonhap) — A pastor at the South Korean church whose volunteers were held hostage for six weeks by Afghanistan’s Taliban said some of the captives were “severely beaten” by the insurgents when they refused to convert to Islam.

Next Al-Qaeda Attack

During the first hour, journalist Paul Williams shared what his research has uncovered about Al-Qaeda’s next terrorist attack on America—a hit that could likely involve the use of nuclear weapons.

According to one of William’s sources, at least three nuclear devices have been forward deployed to the US for the what recovered Al-Qaeda documents refer to as the “American Hiroshima.” Williams believes these devices are being kept in a Jamaat al Fuqra compound or within a radical mosque. Contrary to popular belief, we do not have equipment capable of locating a tactical nuclear weapon, he said.

Williams also talked about his investigation of a 70-acre radical Muslim paramilitary compound in upper New York state, and referred listeners to read his article about it, Springtime in Islamberg.
